For a user supplied at 35 kV, the utility delivers 35 kV to the user site, where it is first stepped down from 35 kV to 10 kV by a transformer; after stepping down, the 10 kV is distributed through a switching station to various 10 kV substations, where it is further stepped down from 10 kV to 0.4 kV by transformers, and then delivered to terminal distribution equipment.
