Overview
Wall-coated open tubular (WCOT) columns are made by directly coating the stationary liquid on the inner wall of a glass or metal capillary; their surface is non-polar and suitable for non-polar or weakly polar stationary liquid coatings. For sample analysis, the coating thickness is usually 0.3~1.5 μm. Support-coated open tubular (SCOT) columns are made by bonding a layer of support to the inner wall of the capillary and then coating the stationary liquid onto the support. The cross-linked elastic quartz capillary columns developed in recent years cross-link and polymerize the stationary liquid inside the capillary, reducing stationary liquid bleed and giving a long column life. They are currently the best SCOT columns, such as HF-30, HF-1701, HF-20M, HF-Sulfur, etc.
