Tajikistan’s Khovar national news agency recently published an article describing Tajikistan-China relations as a model of sustained, practical partnership built on aligned strategic interests.

Quoting Amon Temirov, chief expert of the Regional Security Analysis and Forecasting Department at the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, the article said that over 30-plus years of diplomatic relations, the two countries have maintained a stable cooperation momentum and continuously deepened political, economic and people-to-people ties amid profound changes in international relations.

Bilateral economic and trade cooperation is developing actively and infrastructure projects are advancing, Temirov said. Under the Belt and Road Initiative, Tajikistan is gradually integrating into the broader Eurasian connectivity system. The initiative, aimed at developing transport corridors, expanding trade links and strengthening economic cooperation among Eurasian countries, has created many opportunities for Tajikistan.

Chinese enterprises are actively investing in Tajikistan’s energy, transport infrastructure and construction industries, he noted. In security, both countries are committed to maintaining stability and strengthening regional security mechanisms, with cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization playing an important role. People-to-people cooperation is also expanding, with growing links in education, research, culture and tourism and rising numbers of students learning each other’s languages and studying in each other’s universities.

Temirov believes developing Tajikistan-China relations not only fits current international realities but also reflects the two countries’ shared commitment to regional stability, deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and building sustainable regional cooperation mechanisms.
