During the 2026 Solar & Storage Live South Africa exhibition held in Johannesburg on March 25-27, CNBM South Africa, a subsidiary of China National Building Material Group, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on South Africa’s new energy transition with Geely South Africa, a subsidiary of Geely Holding Group.

Rooted locally and deep in the new energy field, the two Chinese companies will use full-chain cooperation to support South Africa’s clean energy, transport electrification and industrial localization.

The cooperation aligns with South Africa’s national energy transition strategy and responds to the Belt and Road Initiative, leveraging complementary strengths: CNBM South Africa’s PV and storage capabilities, local engineering and channel resources, and Geely South Africa’s focus on NEVs and vehicle-grid interaction technology. With South Africa as the core market radiating across the Southern African region, the two will build an integrated ecosystem of ’NEVs + PV storage + charging infrastructure + green supply chain’ — a model of Chinese companies going global, serving Africa and sharing responsibility.

Under the agreement, the two sides will focus on full-chain practical cooperation, coordinating NEV and charging infrastructure linkage, implementing integrated PV-storage-charging solutions, deepening local supply chain co-construction, and fulfilling green social responsibility for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
